VoxPublic is committed to social and environmental justice !

9 février 2023 dans dans Justice sociale et environnementale

In order to support associations and collectives that defend the rights of vulnerable people in the context of ecological transition policies while fighting against inequalities, VoxPublic is committed to making social and environmental justice a priority objective in 2023.

Climate change is already affecting a considerable number of people in the world. In France, as elsewhere, it affects even more severely those who are the most vulnerable and the most precarious. These include people living on the outskirts of large urban centers and near polluting industrial areas, people without the financial means to adapt their lifestyle (housing, food, etc.) to new ecological standards, « climate refugees » forced to migrate...

In the face of growing social inequalities and the already visible impacts of climate change, it is important for VoxPublic to participate in this intersectional struggle for social and environmental justice. Only an inclusive and participatory transition can achieve true ecological and democratic progress.

VoxPublic is already encouraging and supporting some citizen dynamics that allow vulnerable groups of people to be heard in debates and to participate in decisions that affect them in so-called « ecological transition » policies, so that their rights are respected and strengthened.

In 2022, VoxPublic worked with associations (Alternative Pour des Projets Urbains Ici et à l’International, Pas Sans Nous...) supporting residents of working-class neighborhoods who are fighting for more democratic urban renewal programs. The first collective demand in these neighborhoods is that of the full participation of the inhabitants in the projects that affect their housing and living spaces, in a word their « environment ». This includes a demand for energy renovation of existing buildings, rather than destruction leading to the displacement of inhabitants to ever more distant outskirts. It also involves requests to preserve « green spaces » and wastelands as « islands of coolness » in neighborhoods that can be very uncomfortable in hot weather.

In 2023, and for the years to come, VoxPublic wishes to continue its commitment to defend the rights of the most vulnerable and to accompany all the collectives and associations in favor of an ecological, citizen and fair transition !
