Democratizing urban renewal and housing

VoxPublic supports APPUII association and contributes to raising the awareness of the candidates to the 2022 elections, but also of the local elected officials, to the issues of democratization of urban renewal and housing, asocial and ecological issue.

Update : On Saturday, February 24, 2024, representatives from various resident collectives and associations from across France gathered in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) to explore, debate, and amend a citizen bill with the Green Party deputy, Charles Fournier. It was an opportunity to bring back to the forefront the motives of this law aiming to enable better participation of residents in urban renewal projects, especially when these projects involve demolishing inhabited housing.

After debating and amending the proposal, a symbolic vote took place : the Law on Democratization of Urban Renewal and Housing was unanimously adopted ! Deputy Fournier then set a date to submit it and have it included on the agenda of the National Assembly. The prospect of a future housing law, announced by the government in late spring, could open the door to amendments based on proposals from associations and residents. For the latter, the challenge now will be to mobilize residents and partners to engage with their local deputies.
